The annual Pooleys Air Day at Compton Abbas Airfield. Once again we are offering FREE landing fees and a FREE goodie bag for pilots who fly in to the event and there will also be fun competitions throughout the day. Once again, we are delighted to announce that Bose and Garmin will be joining us. They will be offering demonstrations on their superb ranges of products including the Bose A20 and new ProFlight 2 headsets and Garmin's portable GPS, cameras and watches, including the Delta range. If you are members of a flying school, why not make this a school outing and bring a few aircraft along. For instructors, Bose has a popular Professional Pilot Appreciation Programme offering an £90 reduction in the cost of a new A20 headset! There will also be the chance to meet the Pooleys team and, of course, partake in the breakfasts, lunches and Cream Teas for which Compton Abbas is justifiably famous! The event runs from 09:00 on Sunday 22nd September and visitors are welcome to arrive by air or road. However, if you plan to arrive by air, please can you use the links above to let us know, so that we can allocate enough parking for you. In previous years, we have had up to 170 aircraft join us and for a short while we were forced to shut the airfield until some aircraft had departed. We are going to avoid that situation again this year by pre-allocating parking and by having more support staff on the ground. Last year, we had a number of people who failed to notify us that they could no longer attend which resulted in many other people being excluded. PLEASE, only tell us you are coming if you definitely are or do let us know of your intention to cancel even if it is at the last minute. Compton Abbas (EGHA) is situated 3nm S of Shaftesbury in Dorset and full airfield details are published in the 2019 Pooleys Flight Guide (page 206). The runways (08/26) are grass with a TORA of 799m.
